Letting thoughts and feelings flood out onto the pages of a diary can be a valuable emotional release – but for children, expressing emotions isn’t the only huge benefit of diary writing. Give your child a lovely notebook, let them experiment with coloured pens, stamps and stickers. Diary writing is a brilliant idea for children, because it helps them organise their thoughts and express themselves, it doesn’t matter if they don’t write very day, or only manage a few sentences, any writing practice is good practice. They get used to writing every day and become fluent, the diary they keep this year will become fond memories to look back on for years to come.
